Good morning friends

I write to share the latest Government Gazette Lockdown Level Three regulations with you. In particular, I draw your attention to the following sections:

Section 35 which deals with funerals: numbers now limited to 50 only, and the time limit for such services still a maximum of two hours;

Section 36(3) which prohibits all faith based gatherings for two weeks.

We are aware that these regulations apply up to 15 January 2021, and will be reviewed at that time.

I ask that we ensure that all our Societies and Members are made aware of and abide by these provisions. Please also put in place appropriate measures for worship and pastoral care during this time.

In addition, I strongly urge us all to be very careful and vigilant in terms of our own safety and the safety of others. You will be aware that large parts of the Central Synod have been declared as Covid-19 hotspots: West Rand, City of Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.

As we move towards the start of a New Year:

May God grant us grace, patience and hope.

May God’s Spirit encourage us, sustain us and bless us.

May we witness, in our words and actions, to the new life which Jesus Christ offers all creation.
